Terms And Conditions of Booking and Hire

RESERVATION DETAILS

Our web site is not secure customers wishing to make a reservation using credit cards  are asked to complete the online reservation form and either make a short call +44 (0)1784 455073 or send a fax  +44 (0)1784 458014 to provide card details.  Confirmations are sent by return email or by post

Posted Telephone or Fax orders

In all cases confirmation of your reservation will be posted to you together with an invoice in respect of the balance of the hire charges and excess deposit. Full payment is required 28 days prior to departure or at time of reservation if less than 28 days . Payment may be made using Sterling , credit card (VISA ACCESS MASTERCARD Switch Delta Electron) Personal cheques  (providing clearance time available) Sterling travelers cheques or bank transfer. Late reservations will not be accepted without the use of a credit card. Customers booking through a bonded travel or Appointed sales agent should ensure payments are made in good time to allow agents to pass on payments to us. Agents should issue you with a voucher to be passed on to us on departure.

CANCELLATIONS

Cancelled reservations will be charged as follows:-

Time of reservation to 4 weeks

- Loss of deposit

Between 4 and 2 weeks

- Loss of 50 % of hire charges

Less than 2 weeks, no show, or inability to provide a suitable driver

- No refund.

Customers are strongly advised to insure against forced cancellation.

COLLECTION AND RETURN

A) Periods of hire:- Normally start on Saturday morning and terminate 6 p.m. Friday evening, From and too our premises unless otherwise arranged.

B) Extensions of hire :-This can be arranged prior to the end of the hire subject to vehicle availability and suitable arrangements for payment in advance for the extended rental period.

C) Late return:- Please remember you may spoil the next hirers holiday plans. Vehicles returned late without prior consent from Leighway will be charged at double the normal hire rates and insurance cover may be withdrawn.

D) Early return:- No refunds for early returns.

E) Collection and return outside normal working hours:- Customers can arrange collection and return outside normal hours subject to negotiated fee. On return Holding deposits will be held and returned by post after the vehicle can be inspected during normal working hours.

Charges on Departure The £400 deposit/insurance excess (signed credit card voucher)

Fuel and gas :- Customers will be charged for  Fuel and gas on departure and should return empty Fuel prices subject to change (currently around 90p per litre)  

SUITABLE DRIVERS     

Drivers 25 - 71 holding a clean UK license :- No surcharge on first driver.   additional  and overseas drivers please see insurance surcharges below

The published rate includes 1 driver with a clean UK license Drivers must be able to satisfactorily complete a standard insurance proposal i.e.:- NO serious driving convictions NO recent serious accidents , NO serious health conditions, NO Insurance refusals. Drivers should be aged between 25 and 71.   21 - 24 year olds with at least 3 years driving experience and no health problems no accidents and no convictions may also be able to drive subject to a £11 per day surcharge   (25 - 71 for MPVs and minibuses) at time of hire and held a full license for at least 1 year. Any drivers not able to comply with the above should consult us at time of reservation and we will try and obtain dispensation from our insurers.

Drivers from overseas  wishing to travel overseas should provide an international license together with their national license.

ALL DRIVERS MUST PRODUCE THEIR DRIVING LICENSES FOR INSPECTION AT TIME OF DEPARTURE.

No person other than those named on the insurance proposal may drive

DISABLED

 We  do not have any vehicles specifically adapted   Customers with disabled, very young or elderly family members should contact us at the time of reservation, we will try and advise which vehicles may be most suited and any additional equipment you may require.

VEHICLE MAINTENANCE All vehicles are well serviced and checked before handover Customer are required to carry out basic mechanical checks daily and are responsible for fuel oil gas and punctures.

Breakdown :- All vehicles carry full breakdown cover for the UK and basic cover in Europe, Additional cover for Europe and Ireland can be provided using AA 5 star insurance if required.

Customers are permitted to authorise works up to £75.00 and costs will be refunded against receipted invoices The replaced parts should be retained for inspection on return.

Accident :- In the event of an accident the hirer must complete an accident report form ( 2 part statement of facts are provided in the vehicles) and if personal injury sustained notify the police. Leighway must immediately be informed by telephone or fax.

The hirer must not use the vehicle on the roads if the damage sustained can cause injury or danger to others until suitable repairs are carried out.

Accidents not the fault of a third party resulting in the supply of a replacement vehicle may require customers to pay a further CDW and excess deposit at the insurers discretion.

INSURANCE

Hirer Insurance in the UK has now become extremely difficult and expensive Once again  we have managed to secure excellent rates but these are subject to some surcharges from April 2003 please see below.

A) UK use:- Rental rates include full comprehensive insurance with passenger liability for passengers equal to the number of berths (See excess and CDW)

A ii)    From April 2003 surcharges will apply for overseas and additional drivers  as follows:-

UK licence holders    1 driver  between 25 - 71 with a clean UK license included in the published rates.  Additional drivers £2.00 per day charged at time of departure

Overseas licence holders   still acceptable but an additional premium of £2.00 per  day per driver  this will be charged at time of departure

All drivers with convictions accidents or points on their license may be subject to surcharges please contact us  for current charges

B) Use outside mainland UK :- Europe ( Min 2 weeks). Ireland & offshore islands (Min 3 Days).

An additional charge of £11.00 per day which includes IPT tax @ 4% will be added to cover green card insurance,  and basic vehicle recovery ( Customers may add AA 5 star recovery insurance if required this will be charged at current rates ) .

C) INSURANCE EXCESS AND CDW

Our comprehensive insurance policy carries a £2000.00 excess for each and every accident, CDW ( Collision damage Waiver) has been included in the rates reducing your maximum liability to £400.00 for each accident

Invoices include Comprehensive insurance, CDW and Vat @ 17.5% and will show the amount of Deposit / Insurance excess (Normally £400.00) you will be required to lodge on departure you may wish to use your credit card for this. Please remember the excess may be forfeited if the vehicle returns damaged. No deposits will be refunded if a vehicle returns damaged until blame is established .

D) Windscreens are covered under our comprehensive insurance policy.

E) Cancellation insurance.: It is strongly recommended that customers purchace holiday insurance which includes cover for forced cancellation . See cancellation charges set out above.

F) Negligent damage sustained from stationary object whilst reversing , roof vents and cowls or extra fitted equipment are not covered by CDW.

Animals :- In general no animals are permitted in the vehicles. However some exceptions to this rule are possible and should be discussed with Leighway at time of reservation. Animal hairs found in the vehicle without prior consent may render the hirer to loss of deposit.

Fixed penalty fines and congestion charges

Hirers undertake full responsibility for any fixed penalty fines and tolls during the hire period.

Unpaid fines and charges will attract an administration charge from us of £40.00 to cover our time and postage

Liability If for reasons beyond our control the vehicle booked becomes unavailable Leighway reserve the right to substitute a similar model . Leighway will not be held responsible for hotel bills or other expenses following a breakdown or accident but may refund at our discretion a portion of the hire charges equal to the number of days total loss of use of the vehicle .

Seat belts All motorhomes have 3 point seat belts for front seat passengers and most now have at least 2 more 3 point belts on forward facing rear seats .Rear facing seats have lap straps only. Due to some vehicle  construction methods used these belts may not conform to BSS standards. AIRPORT and LOCAL TRANSFERS Leighway use our own luxury bus Maximum of 7 passengers and baggage on any trip. Customer must ensure they allow enough time for the journey. Whilst we endeavor to transfer punctually we will not be held responsible for any losses due to delays howsoever caused. Available transfer times:- Weekdays and Saturday 09:00 - 18:00 Sunday by prior arrangement :- 10:00 - 14:00
